Doubtless Bay has a regular bus service to and from Kaitaia with the Busabout Kaitaia East Coaster service.

Departs Mangonui BP Service Station:
(Inland Road, Karikari - 25 minutes later)
Monday to Friday: 6.56 am
Tuesday and Thursday: 9.00 am and 1.58 pm
Saturday: 8.00 am

Departs Kaitaia Hospital:
Monday to Friday: 5.05 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 7.56 am and 1.00 pm
Saturday: 1.00 pm

Fare:
Mangonui to Kaitaia - $5.00 one way
Inland Road to Kaitaia - $3.50 one way

Ben Lutze of Taipa Sailing Club won the World Splash Championship held at Tavira, Portugal. The New Zealand team also won the Nations Cup for the most number of competitors finishing in the top ten positions.

Keziah Deverell, also of Taipa Sailing Club, was placed second girl in the competition.

Northland's newest underwater attraction

HMNZS Canterbury The retired Leander-class frigate HMNZS Canterbury, originally commissioned in 1971, was sunk in Deepwater Cove at Cape Brett in the Bay of Islands on 3rd November. Be among the first to dive the HMNZS Canterbury.

Mangonui Waterfront redevelopment commences. The project is expected to revitalize the Mangonui waterfront with the potential to substantially enhance marine-related recreational activities in the area, significantly improve parking in the township, and create an improved pedestrian environment in keeping with the historic nature of the waterfront.The FNDC have announced the award of contract for this long-awaited project to HEB Contracting Ltd. The redevelopment involves reclamation work, construction of 170 metres of new boardwalk, the development of 72 angled car parks, a new dinghy ramp and open green areas for passive recreation. The official opening took place on 29 November 2008.

Transit New Zealand have announced the commencement of tar sealing the last 19 kilometres of the loose-metal surface of State Highway 1 to Cape Reinga.Along with some significant safety and landscaping improvements, sealing will provide a safer and more enjoyable journey for the thousands of tourists who visit the region each year.

The Doubtless Bay Business & Professional Women’s Club will hold their first meeting of the New Year on Thursday 12th February at the Taipa Bay Resort Hotel from 5.30pm for 6.15pm. Dinner will be followed by a Bottle Auction in aid of the BPW Second Chance Study Awards. Mark Saxton of Ray White Real Estate will conduct the auction and a lively time is guaranteed. The cost of the evening is $25 which includes a raffle ticket and those attending are also asked to bring a wrapped bottle to be auctioned (contents can be anything from champagne to shampoo).Guests and prospective new members will be most welcome and they should contact Anne Greenhalgh on 09 406 1268 to reserve their place.
