Our member, Hihi
Olive Estate, has won the gold medal in the boutique class in the
recent New Zealand Olive Oil Awards. First
Drop, a group including Hihi Olive Estate won three silvers in the
commercial class at the awards.

Our member, Karikari
Estate Vineyard & Winery, has won the gold medal for its 2008
Calypso chardonnay in the New Zealand International Wine Show. It also
earned a silver medal for its 2009 Karikari Estate pinotage. This followed
a silver in the Bragato Wine Awards for the 2009 Karikari Estate chardonnay.

Bay community was recognised in the naming of Mangonui's waterfront boardwalk

Ben Lutze of Taipa Sailing Club won the World Splash Championship held at Tavira, Portugal. The New Zealand team also won the Nations Cup for the most number of competitors finishing in the top ten positions.
Keziah Deverell, also of Taipa Sailing Club, was placed second girl in the competition.

Northland's newest underwater attraction
The retired Leander-class frigate HMNZS Canterbury, originally commissioned
in 1971, was sunk in Deepwater Cove at Cape Brett in the Bay of Islands
on 3rd November. Be among the first to dive the HMNZS Canterbury.
