Doubtless
Bay Promotion Inc. (DBPI) was originally formed by a group of local
businessmen and women as the Doubtless Bay Business Association, with
the aim to promote and represent Doubtless Bay as a tourist destination,
to encourage tourists to stay longer and to support and encourage
business and living in the area. The name was changed in May 2005
to DBPI to more accurately reflect the aims of the group.
Our services
DBPI staffs and maintains
the Doubtless Bay Information Centre which is located on the waterfront
at 118 Waterfront Drive in the heart of the Mangonui township, adjacent
to the historic Courthouse.
In addition to providing information about the area to visitors,
the Information Centre offers a full booking service for tours,
attractions and accommodation and bus tickets to and from Auckland.
It also has a wide range of souvenirs and gifts for sale. All accommodation
and tours marked with the
symbol, can be booked through the Information Centre using our 'Make
a booking' form.
The Information Centre has a 24-hour Automatic Teller Machine (ATM),
serviced by ASB Bank, and Hotlink Internet Access terminals and
wireless connections which are available during opening hours -
NZ$2.00 for 20 mins. and NZ$5.00 for 50 mins. You can also burn
your digital holiday photos from camera cards to CD.
When you are here in Doubtless Bay, please visit us at the Information
Centre in Mangonui. We are open from 09.00 to 17.00 throughout the
summer, with shorter opening hours in the winter.
DBPI maintains this community website, the only comprehensive business
directory for the area, produces the Doubtless Bay Visitor Guide
(which is displayed in tourist offices and other locations throughout
New Zealand) and organises the annual Fun Run and Walking Weekend.
DBPI has produced a DVD video promoting the Doubtless Bay area
and this video is being played at various tourist offices, expos
and agencies around the world. Copies of the DVD are available for
sale from the Information Centre. Here's a sample:

We are proud that Doubtless Bay Information Centre was given a Merit
Award in the Tall Poppy Business Awards 2006 sponsored by Top Energy.
The award was collected by then Information Centre Manager, Fiona
Foote, at the ceremony held on 26th October in Kaitaia. Here's the
report in the 31 October 2006 issue of The
Northland Age.
In 2008, a Gold Award was given to members, Doubtless Beauty, and
in 2007, a Merit Award was given to members, Mangonui Stationery
& Lotto.

To co-ordinate, unite and provide
direction for the promotion and development of business in the entire
Doubtless Bay area for the benefit of members and the community. This
is to be achieved by providing guidance and assistance in a fun and
creative way and, where possible, by utilising the strength of our
heritage and multi-cultural history.
